Evaluation…

Dr Butzer was here this afternoon and we talked a lot while he checked over Cody. He said that this is the lymphoma as we feared and suspected, and in our hearts knew. He said at this stage of progression Cody probably has days, maybe a week depending on how he does obviously. He is in the last stages and things are beginning to fail. The fact that he has all these many issues and not peeing too much, as well as his breath odor could be a sign of kidney failure.

That being said Doc says he is not in any pain, at least not right now. He said that Cody is not quite ready to go yet in his opinion. He said to look at his eyes, he is bright and interested even though he is weak. But he said to be prepared that he will not get better, he is past that now. The key is to of course not allow him to suffer at all. He said he would be on call for us all weekend and to just say the word.

We did give Cody the 4th vaccine shot. Why not? What could it hurt? He does have a temperature as well of 104 which is mid-range for a dog.

Needless to say i am beyond sad. But… We did absolutely everything we could do for him, and still are. He just tossed the ball around to me (while laying on his bed) and is wagging his tail. We will know… He is not ready yet but when he is i am ready too… Very sad but I love him too much to let him suffer, and I know it will all be ok.

I took this video below just a little while ago… As you can see he is still very much with me. And you can also see it is not quite time yet…

  2. He is such a cutie, with all of that a smile on his face. I hope the rest of the week is a good one and you still have some time left. I wish that with all my heart.

    • Thank you Alex. You have been a great support through all of this. I hope some day we can have a cup of coffee together somewhere and reminisce about our furry babies…
